A NEW MODEL OF SOCIAL PRODUCTION
At a social level, we have built—and continue to develop—a network of sewing workshops.
Within these workshops, we identify:
• strong technical skills
• very high-quality workmanship
• genuine interest and openness to learning new techniques and continuing to grow
• but also…
• limited working, social, and safety conditions
• a significant gap and high level of isolation due to their location in vulnerable areas
What drives us?
• Support – Throughout the year, we accompany the sewing workshops that are part of our network through an intervention protocol aimed at improving their conditions. We provide benefits and support in different areas: administrative assistance, financial guidance, health and wellness, technical skills, safety, and civil protection, with the goal of strengthening social and labor conditions.
• Reconnect – We create connections between large companies and small to medium-sized sewing workshops that produce high-quality work and possess key competencies, yet are located in isolated and vulnerable areas with limited social and safety conditions. One of our goals is to help these workshops break through the glass ceiling and access opportunities with major industrial groups.
Collaboration with workshops in Mexico City’s penitentiary centers
• Reintegrate – To go further and continue generating a positive social impact, we propose collaborating with textile workshops inside penitentiary centers.
Our plan is to begin with the centers of Santa Martha Acatitla and the Centro Preventivo Varonil Oriente, by supporting specific garment-making processes through technical sewing training and health and wellness programs.
We are convinced that this will enable people currently in reclusion to discover a trade, develop new skills, and support their reintegration process by opening opportunities for employment and/or self-employment.
Thanks to our network of contacts and other companies committed to health, wellness, and social responsibility, we will always strive to bring added value to all participants.
